or over 30 years Hay Festival has bought readers and writers together to share stories and ideas. The festival inspires, examines and entertains, inviting participants to imagine the world as it is and as it might be. Nestled on the edge of the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park, the festival will take place in a temporary tented village at Hay-on-Wye.

The Hay Festival significantly increases demand for hotel rooms in Hay-on-Wye and the surrounding area. At the 2018 festival, 24 May – 3 June, Caboose & Co. created a 20-bedroom temporary hotel providing much needed additional accommodation in the middle of the action.

Caboose & Co. provided a top-level glamping experience including breakfast and parking for 11 days at Racquety Farm. This additional accommodation offer provided festival goers with an affordable experience 5-minute walk from the centre of Hay-on-Wye and less than a 15-minute stroll to the Hay Festival tented village.

Caboose & Co. expect to see many guests return next year and plan to increase the size of the pop-up hotel to meet the increased demand.

“Quality accommodation with extra personality! Really comfy clean quality accommodation in a perfect location. All the facilities of a hotel room, but the convenience and atmosphere of being in a field very close to the festival.”

“Interesting experience, great facilities based upon the space”

“Super cool experience. The only things were that the toilet pressure wasn’t super great all the time and there’s no WiFi, which is fine but some people can’t go without it so it’s good to know. You don’t hear people next to you; you might catch some music from the festival but it doesn’t ruin the experience. The staff are the nicest people and they will even bring food right to your door! The beds are so comfy and it’s a very modern space for those who are okay with smaller spaces. It’s a bit of a walk from everything but because of that you just get to enjoy more of the beautiful scenery. It’s a really cool space to stay and something I’m glad I did.”
